Disposal of Surplus Equipment

Surplus equipment, such as computers, monitors, printers, and audio-visual items, can be disposed of by contacting the DPS Fixed Assets department. For more information, call 720-423-4149 or visit the Fixed Assets web site at http://fixedassets.dpsk12.org.

Clearing Computer Hard Drives Before Disposal

Computers in DPS are used for many applications containing personal and sensitive information that should be viewed only by authorized individuals. Student information, school financial information and staff appraisals are but a few examples of sensitive data housed on DPS computers. It is therefore required that all schools and departments thoroughly erase the hard drives of computers prior to sending the computers to Fixed Assets for resale or recycling. DoTS staff will provide School Technology Representatives (STRs) with training on erasing the hard drives of computers to be salvaged. If additional assistance is needed, contact the DoTS Hotline.
